Making a welcome return to the Edgar Davies Rock Stage on Saturday 23 August are local band Twisted Species.

Hailing from rural Shropshire, TWISTED SPECIES was formed in 2009, born out of a passionate collective vision to create a unique rock sound, by drawing on the band members varied influences. Hard work and continued commitment bring these elements together in a powerful and entertaining way.
The music TWISTED SPECIES produce has been described as ‘Grunge Tunes with Metal Grooves’, with comparisons regularly being drawn to anywhere between Black
Stone Cherry and Pearl Jam. Each band member brings their own individual qualities to the writing process, and this is ultimately reflected in their live performances.

So, who are TWISTED SPECIES?

Frontman Dave Gandon delivers Chris Cornell inspired guttural vocals and blues rock lead lines, and, with Ralph, forms the creative song writing element of the band. Dave draws influence from Zakk Wylde and Slash, to name just two from many, although he draws more influence from rock music as a genre rather than from individual musicians.

The Metal grooves come courtesy of co-song-writer Ralph Corn, in the form of technical riffing and rock solid rhythm guitar. A big fan of classic hard rock as well as non-scream-metal Ralph loves nothing more than playing live in as many different venues to as many people as possible. Ralph is the catalyst for the songwriting process with his keen ear for a stirring, grinding riff, and also shares lead guitar duties with Dave on some of the more complex songs.

Man of few words Luke Hudson (bass guitar) is a classically trained guitarist, and brings a punk and funk theme to his elastic basslines. Drawing influence from Skunk Anansie, Rage Against The Machine and Sublime, Lukes distinctive style of playing is lauded by professionals and fans alike.
Stuart Reynolds is the powerhouse of the band, providing the grunge-inspired percussion engine that drives the band forward. Stuart cites Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl, Matt Cameron and Chad Smith as the influential drummers who have shaped his career, including ‘Colour and the Shape’ and ‘One Hot Minute’ amongst his all-time favourite albums.
